The demonstrative pronouns and adjectives are this, that, these, and those.

Each demonstrative pronoun tells us about the number of the object (singular or plural) and the proximity of the object (near or far):

Demonstrative pronouns replace a noun.

Demonstrative adjectives are placed before the noun.
