60 years after the original
SL model, Mercedes-Benz presents a completely
newly developed roadster. For the first time
the new SL is almost entirely constructed
out of aluminum. This delivers a weight reduction
of up to 140 kg. In combination with the new
BlueDIRECT engines, this results in a reduction
in consumption of up to 29 percent. At the
same time the performance has also increased
to 320 or 225 kW.
Overall, the new model is considerably more
agile thanks to the new suspension system
which offers both sport and comfort configurations.
Furthermore, the new FrontBass system is another
world premiere. This technology utilizes the
spaces inside the aluminum structure as resonators,
delivering powerful bass sounds even with
the top down. The roadster can be ordered
as of the 15th December
2011.
