PO well ahead of PiS

June 27, 2011 The ruling Civic Platform (PO) party is supported by 45% of voters, while the main opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), is backed by 27%, according to a poll by the TNS OBOP agency for Gazeta Wyborcza daily. Support for PO has edged up from 44% in early June, while support for PiS has risen from 25%, the poll found. Support for the leftwing opposition Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) party has fallen to 14% from 16% in early June. Backing for the Polish People's Party (PSL), the junior partner in the coalition government, has fallen two percentage points to 3%, below the 5% threshold required to make it into parliament.
