Kim Jong Il's funeral.


North Korean leader Kim Jong Il died on Saturday 17 December at the age of 69. He died of a heart attack. The attack is said by The Monday North Korean television to be a result of a "great mental and physical tension". The authorities have announced national mourning, which will last until 29 December.

Thousands of residents of North Korea are in mourning over Kim Jong Il and are taking part in the funeral cavalcade of cars riding through snowy Pyongyang with the body of the deceased leader - so passes Wednesday's funeral in the capital of North Korea.

There was little information about the course prior to the commencement ceremony. "Rodong Sinmun", the communist authorities of the Labour Party, announced that the first hearse with the body of Kim Jong Il will travel through the streets of Pyongyang.

Television showed the black limousine with a huge portrait of the leader passing between the rows of bowing soldiers in green uniforms. The car is followed with an onther one carrying a large bouquet of white flowers and a third vehicle with a red drapery coverring the coffin with the body of Kim.

The procession was accompanied by the youngest son of Kim Jong Il. He is considered to be his successor. In the procession you can also see the representative of the ruling dynasty of the Communists North Korea - Kim Jong-Un, as well as his uncle Dzang Tek Song and armed forces chief of staff Ri Jong Ho, as well as other dignitaries and military party.The cavalcade passes to the accompaniment of mournful music.

His youngest son, less than 30-year-old Kim Jong-Un, who gained experience just for three years alongside his father, is now called by the newspapers "the great successor," "great companion" and "supreme commander".
