How to Avoid Homework Stress

Poziom:

Temat: Edukacja

Many high school/middle school students are constantly stressed by the overload of homework thrust upon them on a daily basis. If you're like most people, you probably worry when you don't have your homework done on time. This article is best for procrastinators, busy people of all kind, and anyone who just needs some stress lifted. Steps: 1. Know which classes are your strengths. If you have a real knack for French and are generally bored during the lectures because you understand, and are merely waiting for other kids to get it, take this time to get ahead. Use this time to study ahead on what the teacher will be teaching next. It's always nice to know an answer before the majority of the class does, and the teacher will appreciate your effort. Try not to be a know-it-all. Restrain yourself from raising your hand to answer every question. 2. If you finish a class assignment early, have something else to keep you busy. This is really a great technique, especially if you have homework due next period that you forgot about last night. Work on that math homework, or have your friend quiz you over some biology questions. 3. For tests, studying should be a rare occasion unless you truly struggle in the subject. Pay attention in class, and make sure you get all your learning done IN CLASS so you don't have to take it home with you. Tests are not nearly as important or stressful as people make them out to be. Studies have proven that the more people freak out, the worse people tend to do on exams, even if they knew the material. So relax. All you really need is 5 minutes to go over those German verbs. 4. If you have time at lunch (and most kids do), work on homework. If you bring your lunch, this is particularly easy, as you can get to the lunch room, eat quickly, and pull out some homework. 5. Recognize that days you have tests are basically free days for most people. If you have a Biology test tomorrow, and an algebra assignment due, don't bother doing the algebra homework the night before. Unless you KNOW it will take you all period for the test, you can finish it after the test. 6. If you get to school early, use that time for homework. Many schools let students go to the library during this unplanned time, and it's a great place to finish that trig worksheet. Tips: • Recognize that some teachers get mad if you do separate homework assignments for different classes, so learn to be discreet about it. • Do not pack up for class until 2-3 minutes till the bell is to ring. Most teachers get mad about this anyway, and chances are, you DO have enough time to get to your next class. So stop rushing, finish that homework. • Learn to be a quick test taker, without making many mistakes. Check your answers one page at a time, instead of waiting till your all done with the test. • Stress is a dangerous thing. Don't get stressed over school. There are plenty more things to focus on. Join extracurricular activities as well, so you aren't so focused on it. • Ask for help when you need it. This is the biggest thing you should do. Don't worry if people think you're dumb, because chances are, you're making a higher grade than them. originated by: Stephanie, Teresa, Sedition, Mr handsome Source: www.wikihow.com
