Equal opportunities

In Poland there is a policy of equal opportunities. It means that no matter if you are a man or a woman you have the same chances of getting a job. But it is only theory. In practice many women find it difficult to find a job, especially if they have children. Employers are afraid that mothers with children will take days off to take care of them. Sometimes they think that women are worse workers than men but of course it is not true. Very often women earn less than men doing the same job. It is not fair and the government tries to change this situation. Poland is a part of the European Union and we have to meet special standards or we get punished. Some women fight for their rights. They ask different organizations for help. If the case is really serious, they can go to court. The situation is changing slowly but there's hope.
