Vocabulary for Visiting a Museum

Dodane przez Tomasz H. 26 maja 2014 w kategorii: Język angielski, Leksyka

Taking a trip to a museum can help to expand your knowledge. Today I show you the vocabulary, which you use or at least you should know during visiting a museum. Broaden your cultural awareness and let's start the tour.

When you go to a museum or gallery you choose the exhibitions in which you are interested.

It depends on you, what you like:

-          Modern art

-          Classical paintings

-          Impressionist paintings

-          Pottery

-          Skulptures

-          Ancient artefacts

Exhibition is a public display of work in a museum or gallery for people to see. To enter the building you have to pay the admission fee. However, there're many museums which don't have the fee charged to enter the place. When the exhibition is free of charge, you can give a donation – money that you give to a organization in order to help then. You can wander around (walk slowly around museum, without clear purpose) the museum alone or use a tour guide – a person which show tourists places of interest.

During your visit you can see attendants who look after or help visitors in museum. They also will keep an eye on if you do not take pictures. If you have a camera with you, a backpack and jacket – you have to leave it in cloakroom. After visiting museum you can go to the gift shop and buy some souvenirs. And one more information – remember, many museum are closed on Mondays.

Have a nice time in museums all around the world.
